Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
These are classed as “life cycle” ceremonies by the Government and all are capped at 30 people. They follow the guidance that requires people from different households should. maintain a safe distance of 2m. They will be asked to sanitise their hands on entry and face coverings should be worn. Each ceremony has its own guidance and should be concluded in the shortest possible time.
Funerals are limited to members of the person’s household, close family members and friends. Because Mass is celebrated in public, a requiem Mass is allowed. The family need to consult with Father Doyle about the arrangements along with the Funeral Director.
Infant Baptism The whole rite will take place around the font to avoid the excess movement of people in the church. The child to be baptised should be held by the parents only. Other members of the family, including god parents and grandparents should be socially distanced in household groups. (or bubbles) Please consult Father Doyle about the arrangements.
Marriage The maximum number includes all those at the ceremony including the couple, witnesses, officiants and guests. This includes the photographer. Music may be played if pre-recorded or an organist may play. Father Doyle should be consulted to all aspects of the ceremony in relation to social distancing. The arrangements in the ceremony are quite specific.
