World Water Week takes place from 23–27 August 2026. Its theme, Water for People and Progress, reminds us that safe water supports health, dignity, family life and hope for the future.
For many Christian families in Bethlehem and across the West Bank, water cannot be taken for granted. Mains water may arrive only a few days each month, so families rely on rooftop tanks. Yet many tanks are old, rusting, leaking or unsafe, and families already facing financial hardship cannot afford to replace them.
Friends of the Holy Land works through trusted local partners to install new water tanks and solar water-heating panels. This gives families a safer and more reliable supply while also providing valuable work for local Christian suppliers and contractors.
Sliman, a father of two who received a new tank, told us: “Projects like this help us to continue living our lives in this country.”
Please pray for Christian families facing water shortages and, if you are able, help bring water home toanother family: https://www.friendsoftheholyland.org.uk/Appeal/water
